My Top Five Time-Suckers
February 7th, 2007
Now I’m all for productivity. Really I am.
I am a do-er.
Usually.
But occasionally, when I’m feeling in a rut, I can find myself whiling the hours away focusing on mindless activities such as:
- Stupid phone video games like that G-D Bubble Breaker
- Cleaning my glasses to a spotless shine for hours on end (it’s impossible I tell you)
- Looking up old cartoons like A Merry Mirthworm Christmas on the internet to make sure I didnt just imagine them
- Creating multitudinous budgets on Quicken that I never stick to but make me feel like my finances are in order
- Refreshing my blog every 15 seconds to see if a new comment has posted
Alright, give ‘em to me. I know you got plenty.

There are things that I always INTENDED to be the spare time things, because I consider them productive, or I learn from them. As for TIME-SUCKERS, in their most literal sense comprising all my regular activities, nothing compares to -
World of Warcraft. Makes me spend more time not thinking about worrysome stuff than anything else ever.

Work is like a ramjet for my time. The busier I get, the faster time goes by, and I miss my deadlines sooner. That is such bullshit. Stupid timesuckers….
Laundry. Laundry always takes like 5 hours, even if I have like one sock to wash. Something always goes wrong, and the whole process is drawn out way longer than it should. I hate laundry.
Teh Intarwebs. There’s too much crap out there on the net that I can waste many hours on.
Sleep. That sounds obvious, but it’s not just sleep itself. It’s sleeping during the day. Sleeping in the day makes time accelerate or something, like it starts running away from you when it thinks you’re not looking. I’m sure it’s not just me.
I dunno, I only got 4 right now. If I spend any more time on it, it’ll make itself the 5th one. I’ll get back to you. They’re not in any particular order.

[…] I just found another very powerful time-sucker but it is one that must be used wisely and sparingly — looking up people on Myspace (or Hi5 if you’re from the Caribbean). […]
