Consistently Cold in California
April 10th, 2007
Dear Abby,
I don’t get it. I just don’t get it.
Now I like gossip magazines. I’m a big fan. Daily reader, you might say. And now, with this crazy internet and all (it’s a modern day miracle), you can see today for today where the stars are partying, who they’re talking to, and what they’re wearing.
So here’s what I don’t get.
How is it while I’m freezing my ass off in long sleeves, jeans, jacket, etc, these silly little flibberty-gibbert starlets are prancing around in skimpy sundresses, frolicking at the beach and basically, not giving a damn that it’s 60 degrees out there.
Do we not live in the same place? Share the same air?
(I know the answer is yes, that question was rhetorical)
But answer me this, dear Abby, why I am Consistently Cold in California?
P.S. Here are some of my fave gossip websites:

no perez??
its because your path was from Trini to MIA which are similar in weather patterns.. Cali varies a little more and then the water probably also plays a factor.
abby is on vacation so i took the liberty.

Thanks Dear Dre.
Perez is a bit offensive for my taste. I like my sleaze refined!
And on another note, 60 degrees is chilly no matter how yuh slice it. These bitches are coooold-blooded!

Hi - saw you post on Allyuh.
I’ve always been confused about California weather, albeit my only experience has been seeing it on TV, but there must be something about the air that makes for different reactions. Clearly. I always wondered for example, in Buffy the Vampire Slayer (excellent reference since she ventured outside at all hours!), why sometimes one character would be in a sweater AND a leather jacket, while at the same time next to him/her someone was in a light cotton sundress of some kind. Strange. Maybe it’s something about being filmed that creates the weirdness.

Dan, I was taking a look at your (great) post and wondering… why are you saying that you are NOW reading gossip magazines??? Come oooonnn….! in Miami you DIDN’T read them?

umm… i would call that as two parts creative license, one part degree. While yes, it is true to say I read gossip mags in Miami, I am sooo much more obssessed now that I’m in LA where (seriously) Alec Baldwin yelling at his daughter passes for the 8 o’clock morning news. Seriously.
